Amarendra Dhari Singh

Amarendra Dhari Singh, an Indian Politician, Entrepreneur and Statesmanis a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, from Bihar representing theRashtriya Janta Dal.

A man known for his philanthropy, he hails from Ain-kha village of block Dulhin Bazaar, in Paliganj subdivision of Patna district in Bihar. Born on 10th November 1959, to one of the most prominent and illustrious Bhumihar Brahmin families of Bihar.His parents were Smt. Urmila Singh and Shri Pratap Dhari Singh. The famous ‘Urmila -Pratap Super 30’ is named in their memory. He has four brothers, Brajendra Dhari Sinha and Shailendra Dhari Singh being the elder ones and Pranavendra Dhari Sinha and Mrigendra Dhari Sinha being the younger ones.

His Grandfather was Raja Jung Dhari Singh, scion of Royal Dhari family of the larger Bharatpura clan and Grandmother was Smt Girija Kishori Devi, daughter of Raja Chandeshwar Prasad Narain Singh, the ruler of Maksudpur-Chainpur Raj Estate. An ancient family, the Dhari clan are the descendants of Nyaya Bhatt who settled near the confluence of Son River and Ganga River, most probably near Maner, in Patna district of Bihar, sometime during the 14th century. His family lineage is recognized by many for its prominent personalities like Rajendra Bhatt, Raja Kanchan Singh, Raja Bharat Singh, after whom the famous Bharatpura Fort is named and is a veritable who’s who of Bihar.

Sh. A D Singh has always been actively engaged in making generous contributions towards nation-building and has proudly carried forward his family’s centuries old tradition of philanthropy. His contribution ranges from sponsoring education for the under-privileged to building and supporting libraries.

His efforts in providing education through his ‘Urmila Singh- Pratap Dhari Sinha’ Foundation epitomizes his love for the state of Bihar and a strong desire to reach out to those in need. The foundation and all its expenses are managed by him Singh and it does not take any kind of financial aid from other individuals or organizations, as he believes in making a difference on its own.

His donation of Rs.1 crore to Kirori Mal Collage, University of Delhi for the renovation of its auditorium reflects his efforts of giving back to  society, as he completed his higher studies from the collage.

An erudite speaker and parliamentarian, Shri Amarendra Dhari Singh, is today an icon of the new resurgent Bihar and a role model for the youth. His compassion and empathy have helped establish some of the most important charities in the state of Bihar.
